9 miles ... I thought it was 7?!?!
Its 6:45 a.m. upon arriving at group training. Here I am thinking oh 7 miles today, no big deal. I will knock this out, head home, walk the dogs and enjoy fathers day! Well to my surprise my team decided to step it up a notch and wanted to do a 9 mile run instead. Now I have done 9 miles before, and you may think to yourself, 2 extra miles, whats the big deal .... well 2 extra miles is an additional 18 minutes. 18 minutes at 8:00 a.m. is HOT HOT HOT!
We ran, and ran and ran and ran. Through the humid, buggy woods, passed the Elk and back around Busse Woods. Its amazing though when running with a group the amount you can accomplish. My usual pacing times are about 9:30 per mile. Well that's the group I joined. This group must have stopped at Starbucks on the way this morning because our average pace was a 9:23. At some points we dropped down into low 9's even 8:48, YIKES!
Needless to say I made it, I am alive, and feeling pretty amazing about all I accomplished before 9:00 a.m. However, looking forward to a truly easy 7 miles next week, please?!!?
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger right?
