Here is to building healthy goals in the new year as a whole family
Today was my first official run of the new year and my first major run back since finding out I am pregnant. Today my main goal was to keep a comfortable pace, listen to my body and overall get used to this frigid and freezing Chicago winter weather.
I completed a total of 2 miles this morning, at a 10:30 pace which is much slower than I have ever been used to. The hardest part of this whole running and pregnant process for me is getting it through my own head that I can't and shouldn't go as fast as I used to, and that pace is not what matters. What matters right now is staying in shape, doing something I love, and keeping me and the baby healthy.
Things to be proud of:
Made it out of bed at 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday
Made is 2 miles
Didn't puke along the way
Felt GOOD during and after the run
Things I learned:
Ice sucks to run on
Chicago is cold and I need warmer clothes
Icy cold airs wreaks havoc on my lungs - this will take time to get used to
Goals: My goal is to run a 5k in February!
